So a few weeks ago I came across an online discussion about celebrity baby rooms, which included a picture and reference of Apple Paltrow’s. Of course, being the “pop culture” junkie, design aficionado, and voyeur that I am, I did a bit more research and found pictures of Apple’s whole house, as done by mom, Gwyneth Paltrow. The pictures are from the October 2007 House & Garden issue, so really this is old, old news… but there’s a timeless quality about good design and voyeurism so I am going to post all the pictures again in no particular order, with only some minor commentary. This is an oldy but goody….
The robin blue toile chair against the muted background is striking. The Jack Purcells on the rug a nice, “candid” touch.
There’s that blue again… Not sure I would have put three framed photos over the fireplace, especially since they are wider than the mantle.
It was in this article that I saw this $25,000 Tord Boontje chandelier for the first time – stunning. The leather armchairs aren’t particularly stylish but seemingly very comfy.
Having a kitchen this large with a vaulted ceilings is certainly luxurious. Very understated and Hamptons-like.
I like the dark wallpaper and white cabinets and detailing – very Adler and probably a friend of Gwens. The lavender stool for Apple is cute, and so true!
A stairwell this voluminous is impressive. The traditional wallpaper contrasted again the chrome Tom Dixon lamps are cool. I have one of those…
Apple’s bed looks expensive and is certainly nice but a bit restrained and grown-up I think. A bed that requires a step stool for a toddler?
I assume it’s the master but not sure. The quilted leather headboard is amazing.
This gym is such an oxymoron: to have a separate building that is a pilates gym is so luxurious, yet the inside is clad entirely in plywood? I guess it’s that understated, Hampton’s chic.
